Customer Reviews

Great every day optionBetter by far than the slightly cheaper Mediterranean blend, which is quite good. Proper sharpness. About a one cough. It's my everyday olive oil option and pretty close to the quality of the next step up. Good value. Excellent taste. Low acidity.5Premium EVOOThere is a bit of confusion I'd like to clear up from reading some of the other comments. Unfortunately, the western diet has gotten used to poor quality foods. Most people, thinking quality is what ultra-refined light blended olive oil tastes like get confused when exposed to the real thing. This specific brand and product (their Premium Italian) is what the first press olive oil is supposed to taste like. "Peppery" is a bit of a mistranslation. Usually if you say peppery and English speaker means like black pepper or cayenne. In this instance it means like green bell pepper. In other words, it has a strong taste of olives. That is what such an oil is supposed to taste like without having the flavor refined out of it.This is probably the highest quality you can get. You can pay more but I highly doubt you are getting anything for your money other than paying for the hassle to ship the product to the US.The important thing to know is this is certified by the NAOOA. It's checked regularly to make sure it really is extra virgin. Because refined oil is so much cheaper than extra virgin, stealing is rampant in this industry and price is in no way a guarantee its real (quite the opposite). Some people have said this is bitter. That is not even close to being true. What they probably mean is it doesn't taste like 99cent a gallon Equate vegetable oil.And even then, the taste of olive oil is not very strong at all. Mixed with a strong flavor like Colavita's white balsamic vinegar. The two together are better than any salad dressing currently on the market. The white vinegar is alot lighter than most while still having the "grape must" flavor that makes a vinegar balsamic. The two together are absolutely delicious.Stuff you might not care about. The 500ml bottle is top quality and deep dark green heavy glass. This protects the oil from light (which is bad for oils). Same bottle is used for their vinegar btw. This is a bit of a problem because, like a nice tin, cookies might come in, there is a tendency to keep the bottle.Stuff you might not care about but probably should. Distribution. Someone made a comment about harvest date not realizing that this brand is in wide spread distribution in the US. Most grocery chains have this on the shelf (Amazon however is competitively priced). Unlikely to be an old bottle because it is in such high supply and inexpensive for what it is. It does not sit on a shelf long. A "snobbier" oil in limited distribution could actually have this problem, especially delays (years in some cases) between harvest and ship. Amazon is a good test of this. It comes through Amazon Prime. Some other brands (go look for yourself), can take a month or more to get. Reason is they are not a common US food item. Which can and usually does mean it sat on a shelf in China for a year or two and when nobody bought it, it is dropped shipped to the US.Olive oil is not something you can or should have a caveat emptor attitude about. Because problems are so wide spread, you should stick to certified brands with an established distribution channel.5OverratedTastes less like other Italian boutique extra virgin olive oils we've purchased and more like generic Trader Joe's oils. Then I read the oil doesn't even test extra virgin in a recent study. Stay away.1Good, but not greatI usually do not write reviews, but thought I would on this olive oil. My favorite oil is Pappa Vince, but it is expensive, so based on the reviews thought I'd try Colavita. Well, it's a good oil, but I don't believe it's as good as Pappa Vince. I have only tried approximately fifteen oils and for me Pappa Vince is by far the best. I will probably use this oil for cooking and just resign myself to pay the extra money for Pappa Vince.4not italianI dislike the fact but this is supposed to be Italian seasoning I meant to say Italian olive oil but it is far from being Italian it tastes like mineral oil no Italian in this at all and I know Italian seasoning or Italian flavor very disappointed with this product1FANTASTIC oil for the price, makes a great DIY flavor baseFirst of all, for those of us using Fakespot, not sure why this gets an F rating but it simply is not true. Been buying this brand of oil for almost 2 years and zero problems.I use this for everyday cooking as well as making my own flavored mixes, I wouldn't use for salads and such without first simmering it down and re-bottling. I notice just a hair of a tart taste on the tip of my tongue when the oil is uncooked but once slowly heated it releases a pretty magical flavor that compliments chicken, beef, and vegetables quite well. I've had slightly better oil but it's insanely expensive to buy month after month so this is my go to for everyday olive oil.4Arrived in good condition. Very smooth taste.I ve been hearing more and more about how healthy olive oil can be, so I finally decided to purchase some for myself. This brand specifically is great, it was exactly what I was looking for. It needed to be cold pressed and affordable!I ve been taking 1-2 spoonfuls of this per day and one benefit I noticed immediately is that I don t get as hungry throughout the day. I m not going to try to claim it gave me an amazing amount of energy, but it definitely seemed to keep me going without getting the munchies so soon into the day. Overall I m very pleased with this!5Peppery(high oleocanthal), healthy olive oil. A little thin.Nice pungency and peppery bite (high oleocanthal). Colavita italian is a high phenol oil, according to one study, so it a healthy olive oil. This oil actually has less flavor and bitterness than I was expecting, not a lot of depth, maybe more when it is more fresh or closer to harvest, but alas, Colavita does not offer harvest dates so you are almost guaranteed a less fresh product. The oil is a bit thin for my liking too, I'm not sure why it is so thin, probably low oleic % compared to picual. But despite the relatively mild flavor, the peppery bite is strong so I am satisfied that this is a health promoting olive oil.4My favorite Extra Virgin Olive OilWhen I first decided to try Extra Virgin Olive Oil, it just happened to be Colavita. Now, I use it almost exclusively on my salads because I like it so much, and I use it a lot if I happen to be frying anything. It's very light, smooth, no after taste. Not an expert here on olive oil, just my humble opinion.5(Not 5 or 6) Excellent rich colorFrom one place of origin. (Not 5 or 6) Excellent rich color...flavourful. Great buy..thanx for amazing Olive Oil. Mr.Pickles5
