Spoiled meatWe have used this ham during the last several years and were always satisfied. However, when we opened the second can of the last shipment. we found that most of the ham was brown on the outside. I wanted to know if this makes it inedible or even dangerous. I called the company yesterday and left a message. Since no one bothered to call back I tried again today and left another message (they seem to have no people there answering telephones), but still no response. I also checked the third can. We have not opened it yet, but found the outside discolored and not looking right. The expiration of the cans is listed as 2022. Where we store the cans there is no danger of overheating. I wonder if anyone else had a similar experience1best small canned ham sold in my opinionThese were better than i thought they would be. Though still processed ham- you can see they go out of their way to make it taste better than any other brand I find on Amazon in a canned ham. I heat these up in slices in a skillet with some butter and a bit of honey mustard on warm sourdough bread--AH! Or serve with veggies at dinner- one ham will likely serve two hungry men with baked potato's and veggies on the side, or if used for small sandwiches for the holidays I get about 20 half slices which I toss in a pan with honey butter and some orange marmalade and toast- then add to crackers with some honey mustard --I always run out.5Shelf stable optionThis is a terrific shelf stable item that can be used when you need a back up. I think that of the canned ham you can purchase (remember it's chopped and formed - as you expect) Dak is one of the best brands. I purchased for a friend who is feeding a military family of 5. They can use all the help they can get! I appreciate that Amazon allows me to help as often as I can. My friend reports that it arrived quickly (I have prime) and in good condition. Dak Dak Dak Dak Dak.5Very easy to cook and 4 year shelf life for emergenciesI tried this for the first time and was very impressed by the taste and quality of the meat. I sliced into 1/2 thick slices in frying pan with 1/4 cup of water after rinsing off the gel on the outside to remove most of the salt and it worked, no strong salty taste at all, added a splash more water to the pan when done and made a little gravy for the potatoes. Very easy to cook and 4 year shelf life for emergencies. If you are hiking you don't want to wash out the salt as you will need that to stay hydrated fyi..5DisappointedI was disappointed with these items. After opening first set of three items; the seal was obviously opened & had leaked. Which when opened th original shipping box, you were overwhelmed with a rotten smell. Also one item had black spots on the ham itself.1Some things change...not always for the better.Definitely not the Premium Ham I recalled from my youth.I grew up in a poor southern household, actually went to high school barefoot through many times - my friends and probably the teachers thought I was just a hippie. Owned two pairs of pants over the same time, wore hand-me down oversize shirts from my brothers. Very poor, but my mom always made sure we were fed.So I remember buying these when they were like 79 cents on sale at the A&P or Kresge's 5&10 store so my mom could make Schunks (a Bohmeian-slovak family dish with noodles, cabbage and ham - seasonings I never learned) and sandwiches with 2 day-old white bread and mayo. She could squeeze a meal for 8 people out of one of these cans (my dad said she could pinch a penny so hard Lincoln would "toot" - he actually used the "f"-word for passing gas but I'm not sure that word would get past the Amazon censors). My memory's changed over 50 years, I know, but I've eaten Spam, a lot of spam, I like spam on occasion (and the Monty Python routine of the same name), but I honestly didn't remember this being, well, potted meat, made from what a friend of mine used to say was the parts of the pig you left for the sharecroppers: teats taints and touch holes. It's edible, in a spamish kind of way, and my dogs like it.Has an expiration date 3 years down the road so I'll keep it "just in case," like the perennial jar of pickled pigs feet I keep on a shelf in memory of my grandfather and "uncle" Huey who used to wolf 'em down with Carling's Black Label way back when they'd get together on the farm and recall and relive their arguably misspent youth in the 1920s.3Believe the reviews that call this the same as SpamI love salty food generally, especially salty meats. But this is even too salty (and fatty) for me. Believe the other reviews that say this tastes just like SPAM! Same texture as Spam too....chopped up meat embedded in fat and supersaturated with salt. "Premium" is a lie at worst, or a bad Danish-to-English translation at best.1Expecting 3...Rec'd (1) ?? Buy at $3-4.ea retail, daily...I just received a shipment of misc items I ordered thru my Prime membership and I *thought* I was getting a lower price for a pkg of 3 as was adv by this seller: (Which I thought was over-priced, compared to avg retail)Dak, Premium Ham, 16oz Can (Pack of 3)3.4 out of 5 stars (16)$21.39I only received (1) and was expecting to get the others in a back order; but if I only get one...for $15+ (?) That's a real RIP OFF!I've begun to notice that there's some unscrupulous sellers being allowed to put things for sale by Amazon...some things for hundreds of dollars, if the wrong button gets pushed, by accident (!!) And I'm abt to wonder if some of the low-priced things from Hong Kong, may be some way of getting customer info to use in some way that's not up and up, btw. (Several cancellations) Amazon needs to screen all these vendors, more closely!3Dak, Premium HamDak Premium Ham is a brand that I have never heard of nor tried. I thought for the price, it was worth a try. In my opinion, when sliced thinly and put between bread and lettuce, it's not too bad. It is about the consistency of Spam but there are "spots" of real ham here and there in it. It has a very light taste and would be good added to a salad or with crackers.. The price was very good but I don't think this is an item I will be purchasing again.3Great for a snack-type situationThese hams are reasonably priced and taste great for a breakfast side or in a sandwich. They are ready to eat right out of the can, but I like to fry them up a bit. It seems to add a little more flavor for some reason.I dropped the rating down a star because they appear to have been broken apart and then pressed together again giving them an appearance that resembles Spam. These are not meant to be served for a Sunday dinner or on Thanksgiving. But they are great to have on hand for a quick sandwich or to compliment a main course.4
