Customer Reviews

Moving on the healthy train, away from animal productsMoving into a healthier lifestyle due to health issues, and the coconut flour smells and tastes delicious. We make cookies las night for the kids, and they did not love it, but they eat them all. It would take some time for them to get use to, but I love them, I was not a coconut fan, but I like it a lot now.5Beats Out the Competition!!!!!!I have tried three different coconut flours. Bob's Red Mill, Welbee's and Nutiva. The difference between the Nutiva and the other two is more then apparent. Nutiva's coconut flour is finely ground and much lighter in color and less dense in grain then the other two. Welbee's and Bob's Red Mill are much darker in color, and thicker/more dense in coarseness. This matters when baking. It is the reason, besides the great price, that I love this flour over any other brand! Great flour that you can see and taste the difference in!5Developed food sensitivity from it!This is an excellent product! It's healthy, organic and a great deal money wise! The only problem I had was I liked it so much and it was low carb, so I ate too much of it almost everyday. I then developed a severe sensitivity to coconut. I know this because I had an ALCAT testing. So, be careful on eating too much of one food, because even if they are healthy foods, any food you can cause problems if taken in excess. So, I'm giving this a 5 star rating, because it was an excellent product, and it was my fault for just overdoing it.5Some things to knowI bought this to go with a Paleo diet. I have learned a lot since ordering that I wish I had known before. First, a little goes a long, long way. To make a batch of pancakes for a family of 5 takes about a 1/2 cup of the flour. So in the two months since buying, we have only used about 1 1/2 packs. Luckily I've had family and friends that took a pack each.Second, this does not behave like wheat flour. It does not stick together. I had read this before buying, but it did not sink in. I have learned to make the pancakes small enough to fit on the spatula so that they don't break apart during flipping. And even then if not careful, they still do.Third, this is a LOT of coconut flavor. I like coconut. But I've always though of it as an accent flavor. It is difficult to 'tone down' the flavor. Even with two months of experimenting, the pancakes still taste like macaroons.4Terrific for low carb baking! The best way to "go easy" on the carbs. and grains. When it's necessary to limit carbohydrates, to avoid insulin levels from climbing too high, this is the flour to use. Rather than completely cutting out bread, I make a multi grain bread substituting 1/4 of the flours with coconut flour. I use some whole wheat, rye, buckwheat, flax and oats. All organic, found here on Amazon. I am not gluten sensitive, so I add a couple tablespoons to get a better rise. There are many web sites for using this flour to make breads, muffins pizza dough, and other things without gluten and other grains. We eat the bread sparingly of course. At first I was disturbed by the use of so many eggs in the preparation of "bread" using only coconut flour. However, I have recently read the best selling book "The Great Cholesterol Myth" by Jonny Bowden. Great Cholesterol Myth(Available on Amazon, of course). If it is true that we have been misled regarding cholesterol and eggs, (by the drug companies) then using them with this flour is not going to cause a problem. One fourth cup contains 22 carbs and 16 grams of fiber. I have seen it said that this makes the flour a net carb serving of 6 grams. Besides being carb friendly, the Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife The Coconut Oil Miracle will open your eyes to how wonderful coconut is, in every form. I was astounded by the apparent way we have been manipulated (politics!) to believe that coconut was a bad thing. Finally doctors and nutritionists are speaking out.. Their advise? Go real easy on the grains, (avoid sugar!) and add coconut to your diet. This product is a winner! I'll be ordering again.5Such a great alternative to grain-based floursWe absolutely love this coconut flour. We're a grain-free household, so we rely on nut flours and coconut flours for our baked goods and sometimes in our cooking as well. For those of you who are hesitant to try coconut flour, you'll be pleased to know that it doesn't have a strong coconut flavor. It's actually pretty mild and neutral especially in baking. We've made muffins, cakes, and cookies with this flour. It's the best brand we've found so far. It's consistent in quality, doesn't clump at all, and is very easy to work with. When baking with it, keep in mind that it's very absorbent, so you may have to adjust the quantity of liquids in your recipe accordingly. When we first started using it, it took some experimentation to get our recipes right, but now that we've had some practice, we're thrilled with it.The price is fantastic as well.5A great gluten-free flour. We mainly use this and nut flours for all of our baking and cooking.I love this brand of coconut flour. I also bought some on their website more recently. I think it was like 30 pounds. It's lasted me a couple of years almost..and still going. The thing that I love about coconut flour is that a little goes a long way. It's almost great for mixing with nut flours. I've had so much success making cookies, cakes, and cupcakes by mixing this with nut flours. I also make them in recipes, mouth the cakes have a tendency to be a little dense and dry, unless you use a lot of eggs and liquids. However, it is a great option for gluten-free, low glycemic baking. I love it. This brand has a fine grain to it, and the coconut taste is subtle so the flour can be used in a variety of ways. I use it in breaking meat as well.5Taste, Texture, Organic and Non-GMO Verified Makes this a TOP productOur family started using coconut flour a few years ago when I decided to go gluten free in response to some behavior issues I was having with our daughter. In trying out other GF flours (rice flour, potato starch, almond flour) for various reasons, I kept coming back to coconut flour.Over the years, I have purchased this product several times, both on Amazon and locally through a store. I have also purchased other brands (Let's Do Organic and Bob's Red Mill). When comparing them, Nutivia comes out on top, not only because it is organic and non-GMO verified, but also in texture and taste. I have found that by sifting the flour when adding it to what I m baking, I eliminate the lumps that are often reported as a negative of using coconut flour.I use coconut flour multiple times a week, including in coconut wraps and coconut pancakes which are favorites of my daughter. My recipes come out light and fluffy when using Nutiva coconut flour. The packaging is easy to open and close, and it keeps well when stored in the refrigerator. This is definitely a product to keep on-hand whether you are gluten free or not.5HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT, TOO!I love this flour! I have been gluten-free for 6 or 7 years and used the usual flours (such as brown rice), but, the drawback was the carb load. When I discovered coconut flour, I began to experiment with recipes and found that I loved the results. Low carb and high fiber...who could ask for more? I can now have my cake and eat it, too! I like that this flour is organic, ground fine (very little problem with lumps) and smells divine! Now, it may seem pricey, but, with coconut flour you use much less. For example, my basic muffin recipe makes 24 muffins and I only use one cup of coconut flour. I also use Nutiva coconut oil!5Other Brands =gritty sand, NUTIVA =smooth flour...AS IT SHOULD BE!I've tried other brands and this is the best... Let me tell you why... It has A MUCH finer grind than all the others. I actually didn't know there was anything wrong with the previous Brands I bought because all of them were the same, very grainy. I figured that was just the normal characteristic of coconut flour. When I opened this I was pleasantly surprised because it's lighter in color, fluffier, and smooth like normal flour. That was unexpected. I can't remember all the brands I tried but two of them are Terrasoul and Better Body Foods (commonly found at Walmart). I bought the terrasoul because it was the least expensive option at the time for a small amount 5 lb or less. Then I bought this because I got it for about $1.54 per pound with my subscribe and Save Discount for a 25 lb bag. I have now set aside all of the remaining coconut flour from my other brands and will only use those where a smooth texture is not as important. I'm super happy that smooth coconut flour exists and buying the 25 lb bag is the most cost-effective option I have found. Since coconut flour does not go rancid and does not have to be kept in the freezer, I'm okay with buying 25 lb, even though it will probably last me many years (you only use 1/4 to 1/3 the amount of coconut flour when replacing other flours.) There is a large learning curve to using coconut flour, but I have to wonder if the learning curve would have been much easier had I started with this brand of flour. I won't even bother trying any other brands because I don't want to go back to grainy sand instead of smooth flour. If you've tried other brands and they are gritty and grainy, try this one and see if you don't like it much better. Beats out other brands in my opinion.5
