Product Description Product Description
  • Pantenger Fine Culinary Grade is a genuine high quality matcha. It is organically grown in Kagoshima Prefecture by a ninth-generation family-owned tea estate that has accumulated over 250 years of artisan expertise. Use it to make a healthy breakfast, smoothies and lattes but can also be served in the traditional way with hot water.
  • METHOD: The tea leaves are grown under shade for three weeks before the first flush of spring, leaves are hand picked, then powdered using traditional granite stone mills. The First Flush of Spring is the first harvest of the year, and the leaves contain three times more L-theanine than the second or summer harvest. Pantenger Matcha contains high levels of antioxidants and amino acids.
  • COLOR: the 20 days of shade force the plant to overproduce chlorophyll, which is what makes the tea a vibrant emerald green. Low quality matcha is pale and yellowish. TEXTURE: Pantenger Matcha is milled using granite stone mills. The result is a silky texture.
  • TASTE: the L-theanine produced by an excess of chlorophyll gives Pantenger Matcha a sweet taste and aroma of fresh grass. Low quality matcha tends to be bitter and astringent.
  • PACKAGING: Pantenger Matcha green tea powder is supplied in airtight tins to protect the tea from oxidation. We hope the natural harmony of our tins and the purity of our matcha will invite you to take a moment of your day to hold your own tea ceremony and enjoy quality time.

My Favorite Matcha!!!One of my best friends is from Tokyo and introduced me to Matcha. I was instantly hooked! Since then I ve tried dozens and dozens of Matcha looking for the best taste at the best price because I couldn t afford the delicious one she brought me back from Uji for my birthday. When considering 5 brands with very high ratings last year, I admit I chose this one because of the beautiful packaging. It is nearly as good as the really expensive ceremonial brand my friend gave me at a fraction of the cost! It has a deliciously fresh, crisp, grassy taste without bitterness. The flavor is complex and full of umami. The scent matches the taste. It has a beautiful, rich, vibrant green color and is ground to a powdery fine texture that suspends and froths extremely well. It s so much better than most other ceremonial brands I ve had, and I would feel bad making lattes with it if it weren t for the price. But the better quality Matcha it is, the better nutrition it has, so I don t hesitate. I re-ordered it to make sure the quality is consistent, and now I will put it on my subscription list. There is no Matcha I can recommend more highly! 5Absolutely deliciousLoved the container. Loved the Matcha. I used a recipe I found from someone reviewing on line. I made the cold latte. It was easy and so good.1 tsp matcha3 tsp hot waterWHISK THOROUGHLY (no clumps!)Add steamed milk to taste (I use almond milk)Add sugar to tasteSprinkle matcha over the top*You can also make this iced by adding cold milk with ice instead of steaming it first.*Sometimes I add a few drops of vanilla extract as well, enhancing the flavor - give it a try!5My search is over!! Woo hoo for this great Pantenger Genmaicha tea!I didn't see a review for this particular Pantenger flavor of tea yet, (Genmaicha) so I wanted to leave one. I have tried many Genmaicha teas in search of the perfect one for my tastes. As it's really my favorite flavor tea to drink. I prefer green tea without sweetness (so that I can personally make my green tea more "savory" tasting if I wish.) In some other brands of this flavor tea, the rice isn't right or doesn't have any at all. In some brands, the tea doesn't have much flavor or isn't organic. BUT this one has it ALL for me!!To start with, it's organic which I prefer. It has the toasted rice which I want and Patenger's toasted rice has wonderful flavor. (I always save a few toasted rice kernels out after brewing to put back in my tea- to eat at the end of the cup of tea. :) The flavor of the tea itself is very nice and refreshing and with no bitter tones if steeped correctly (temperature & time-wise) for green tea. The very nice container keeps the tea fresh and airtight. I will be buying more.5Love this! Very happyThis tea tastes delicious with a splash of lime & a little liquid stevia. I got a cute little tea infuser & followed instructions for brewing the tea exactly. Besides all the health benefits of a good, organic green tea, this tea actually suppresses my night-time appetite, & I am so happy about that! Daytime too, but I m not usually hungry during the day it s the night hunger that has been the problem. (Something about cortisol, which the Genmaicha green tea tamed). Hoodia didn t do a thing in that regard, nor did anything else I tried that would be appropriate for night, & decaf coffee is just ugh; so I m pretty sure it isn t a placebo effect. I was so surprised at the effect of this tea on the appetite! Happy about having a tasty little very low calorie treat too. You can make 3 infusions out of one serving, & I read that the caffeine comes out in the first infusion, so I have that early in the day, and the other 2 in the evening. It doesn t have as much caffeine as coffee in the first place, though. No jitters, delicious, & plenty of appetite control, this one is a winner!5It's really green!Thought I had already written a review about this wonderful product, but looks like not. I'm very happy with the marketing, ebook and company follow up.The Matcha was so green I had to look at the label again to make certain it was pure. Seems to be the case. The 1st brand I bought was ceremonial and looked like good value-not! Even tho is was organic, it had organic brown rice fillers and I had to use twice as much. Plus it does not compare Leopard culinary grade. So satisfied that I order a can of ceremonial. Oh! I did I say quite pleasing to the palate5Buying for the tin? The tea's good too!I'm not going to lie, I was persuaded to buy this because of the cute tin. A bonus is that it's actually pretty good matcha. I got the culinary grade so I wasn't expecting it to be as smooth as ceremonial. I prefer culinary grade because it's made from older leaves and a more mature tea leaf contains more EGCG. Don't go overboard with it. 1/2-1 tsp is plenty for a 16oz smoothie or latte. Some of the negative reviews here may have just been from improper measurements or preparation.5No wonder there are so many 5 star reviewsDelicious! I've been drinking a lesser quality matcha upon waking as a substitute for coffee(for better health) and I love my coffee so it's been difficult as the lesser quality just wasn't quite palatable enough early in the morning. I almost gave up but found this product and, WOW, it's exactly what I was hoping for! The experience and ritual of coffee is not easy to replace. I also purchased a high quality, expensive monk fruit sweetener to add a little sweetness and I do add a bit of 1/2 & 1/2 to complete this smooth tasty beverage. As others have stated, I feel a nice caffeine buzz but no jitters. A votre sante'5Genmaicha Loose Leaf is a no goThe genmaicha loose leaf leaves a lot of tea dust after filtering. Unfortunately I think they use the same genmaicha as the ones in the pyramid bags. The loose leaf leaves more residue than desireable. That being said it tastes like a pretty basic green tea. Wouldn't recommend for $20 at the end of the day. If you wanna try out the pyramid bags, that's on you, it might be better or not. I have a really fine double strainer too so it's not like I could have strained it any better. But if it is the same as the pyramids then I would assume the pyramids let off a lot of residual dust in your cups as well.1Run, run, run... away... fast.Look, I've spent years in Japan and a lifetime outside of Japan drinking various Green Tea's. My favorite has always been Genmaicha and specifically love the taste of the roasted rice additive. After reading the mostly positive reviews of this tea I took a leap and ordered some at the ridiculous price (ridiculous because this price turns out to be the cost per cup for me ) This tin is nice and with a sealing lid, keeps the loose leaf fresh though does ship in a foil bag which also serves to keep the mix fresh. Let's start out by saying the color of this tea is slightly off. Just a bit too green in my opinion as a result, the steeping time is literally just a few seconds. There is no need to steep this for more than 30 seconds. In fact, you probably shouldn't steep it more than the pouring the water through the infuser without submersing the infuser in the cup or pot. Additionally, the mix is noticeably stingy with the quality and quantity of roasted rice grains. Yes, they are there but they just seem to have very little effect on the resulting taste. This is all surprising since the company website claims this tea comes from a 9th generation family shipping the tea out of Japan. It's hard to describe how this tea tastes. Bitter is an understatement. The type of bitter than only over brewed green tea can produce. Unfortunately, in the case of this tea, my first cup brewed for about 5-8 seconds. My second cup didn't brew beyond pouring the hot water through the infuser without submersing it. In both cases, I met with the most horrendous after taste. Literally, imagine taking a fistful of Fescue from your yard and brewing that for an hour before drinking. Yes, a carnival to the taste buds and more of a strip mall weekend carnival than a county fair. You have been warned. I managed two cups of this and couldn't and won't do a third. It's a real shame because I really had high hopes for this mix. The same company produces a carrot and ginger mix that is excellent. I mean it's really good. Good enough to win awards. But this stuff.. man, it's just bad.1but I was so happy with this MatchaI have never written an Amazon review, but I was so happy with this Matcha, that it actually compelled me to write this review. I have been a huge matcha drinker for years and have tried many different brands; most of which, to be honest, are not that distinguishable from one another. For the money, this is the absolute best one I have tried. The color is a vibrant, verdant green hue and you can smell the sweet grassy flavor as soon as you open the package. The flavor is rich and complex; standing up to a a latte preparation while still having matcha as the prominent flavor (this is generally not the case with most other culinary grade matcha teas). The tin and packaging are really attractive, making this an overall stellar purchase. The extra dollars are very much worth it in this case as this is likely some of the best culinary grade quality you're going to find. I'm officially impressed and will definitely be a repeat customer.5
